If you are experiencing violence or have been threatened with violence by your partner, Spectrum Family Law will advise you of the options available to you and, if applicable, your children. Injunction proceedings can be issued swiftly, depending on the circumstances of your case, to provide you with the protection of the court.

It may be that proceedings will be instituted by the police, including harassment proceedings, which will save you a great deal of time and cost. In cases where the victim of abuse is financially dependent on the abusing party, we can advise you of the law and your rights. Every case is different, but a victim cannot be expected to stay in a violent environment due to financial constraints. As experienced solicitors, we can advise you of the best course of action to take.

The law protects the most vulnerable people in society, and we will act in those circumstances to either protect you, or to advise you if an allegation of domestic abuse is made against you.

Any injunction is intended to be an emergency solution and can be limited in time but for a sufficient length of time to allow the situation to calm.

Sometimes in pursuit of a financial settlement it may become apparent that assets and funds are being dissipated or moved with the intention of defeating the other party's claims. If there is sufficient evidence in support of such an assertion it may be possible to freeze the relevant assets thus protecting them pending a final order. Care must be taken to ensure the evidence is reasonably clear as a misguided attempt to freeze assets could result in an order for costs against the applicant if the case is not upheld after the initial injunction is made.
