Spectrum Family Law Ltd was founded in 2012 by Dee Finnegan and Margaret Porter inspired by their ambition to offer a specialist service dedicated to providing the full spectrum of support to those undergoing relationship breakdown and the continuing issues arising from such an event. Not only do we offer legal support but also have the facility to sign post the need for other professional support including therapeutic, financial and other specialist expertise. We can make appropriate referrals using the wealth of contacts we have developed over many years.
Dee Finnegan, Director and Chartered Legal Executive, having obtained a Degree in law has worked in the Harlow and Bishop's Stortford area for over 25 years. From very early on in her career Dee has specialised in Family law, building an excellent reputation in this field. She is particularly renowned for her tenacity and determination to achieve the best result for her clients whilst at the same time offering pragmatic and proportionate advice when considering the cost versus benefit to the client.
Dee has had particular success with cases involving high net worth individuals in financial disputes. She has gained a reputation in cases involving disputes over children, demonstrating a determination to achieve the best outcome for the children even against the odds of commonly held presumptions that they should remain with the Mother.
Margaret Porter, Director and Solicitor, is also a Collaborative Lawyer. Margaret qualified in 1979 and after working in London early on in her career, she moved to Bishop's Stortford in 1990 where she specialised in Family Law building on the experience developed in her previously mixed practice.
As with Dee, Margaret has over 25 years' experience specialising in Family Law as well as having worked in other legal disciplines. Margaret is passionate about providing her clients' with an opportunity to be in control of the process leading to their own tailor made outcome. She does this by offering the choice of engaging in alternative processes to the traditional court based negotiations, such as Collaborative Law. Where the situation suits, she will consider and refer to Mediation, having built a comprehensive range of contacts amongst experienced local and City based mediators she would be confident her clients instruct.
Margaret has practised as a Collaborative lawyer since 2006. Her reputation in the Collaborative field is highly commended. She also recognises that the traditional process may prove to be the best forum to achieve resolution for some couples and she has developed the skills necessary to use that process to achieve a negotiated settlement over many years of practice
